“Kinetic Improvisation”, an improv class with Jayda Fogel

About this event
As improvisers, sometimes we forget to be comfortable letting our bodies do the talking, and how to best use our physicality to establish characters, relationships, and scenes. We’ll play with taking control of spaces using only our bodies, creating and recognizing characters and emotions through body language, and how to build upon physical offers. Drawing from dance and contact improv techniques, we’ll play games and explore the full range of our body’s movements to ease into physical scene work.
Expect an active class full of play as we go through fundamental movement exercises that may make you sweat, even as they help you connect to your body and all of the ways that it can move and help you express yourself.
This workshop is open to anyone, regardless of skill level or physical fitness, looking to reconnect with physical and movement-forward improvisation.
Skills: Character creation, physical movement, body and spacial awareness, staging, mime and object work, silent improv, dance (flow, improvisation, techniques), physical groupwork.
6-hour improvisation workshop (in 3-hour halves, before and after lunch)

About the Instructor:
Jayda Fogel is an actress, writer, improv teacher, geek, role player, and improviser hailing from the snowy mountain vistas of Canadia—by way of Calgary’s Loose Moose Theater, Montreal, Duesseldorf, and now Amsterdam. She is the chanteuse half of Talk Radio, plays Tris in FigmentRP’s Questor’s of Yalpelor, Mairr in the Broken Paths, and improvises Playback with a brilliant group of women across Europe. She loves bringing strange characters, strong relationships and inopportune emotions to life.
